Jemal closes on Century Theater deal; working on development plans

The 3,076-seat Century Theater was run by Harvey & Corky productions from 1974 to 1980, when it was closed and demolished to make way for a surface lot.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Developer Douglas Jemal continues to collect downtown real estate by closing on the deal for the former Century Theater property.

Through his Jemals Century Theater LLC affiliate, Jemal paid $2 million for the L-shaped property at 513 Main St. between Main and Washington streets, according to a May 20 filing in the Erie County Clerk’s office.

Jemal bought the half-acre site, now an 80-car surface parking lot run by AllParking LLC, from the Dr. Joseph R. Takats III Irrevocable Trust, whose minority investors include Harvey Weinstein. You can read more on this story on Buffalo Business First's website.
