BUFFALO, N.Y. — HSBC Bank USA N.A. announced Friday that it plans to open up to 50 retail branches in new and existing markets – including Western New York – and hire 300 employees nationwide as part of an effort to grow its customer base.

The U.S. banking arm of London-based HSBC Holdings PLC (NYSE: HSBC) has already confirmed plans to open a branch at 2911 Walden Ave. in Depew. The office – to be located adjacent to HSBC's existing operations and customer service center – will be the first HSBC branch to open on the East Coast in eight years.

And more local branches could be in the works. According to a release, further expansion in Western New York "is being strongly considered" given the bank's longstanding relationships with local businesses and a workforce of 3,000 in the region.  You can read more on Buffalo Business First's website
