High winds prompt power outages across Western New York

The outages ranged from sporadic to widespread at different times Wednesday night.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — With a High Wind Warning in effect for most of Western New York through 1 a.m. Thursday, power outages ranged from sporadic to widespread at times Wednesday night.

As of 8:30 p.m., NYSEG was investigating power outages that impacted more than more than 3,900 customers in Elma, Orchard Park and West Seneca.

By 10:30 p.m., it was down to 10 outages impacting 194 customers.

National Grid was staying busy, too, with 13 outages in the Greater Buffalo area impacting nearly 1,800 customers at around 8:30 p.m.

By 10:30 p.m., that number had dwindled to five outages and 23 customers.
