BUFFALO, N.Y. — Tensions related to two recent protest marches down Hertel Avenue - and a third planned for Friday evening - have prompted the developer behind an $11 million senior housing project to ask Buffalo officials to delay their approval process.
McGuire Development Co. was supposed to begin the review process for its planned 43-unit, three-story senior housing project at 179 Sanders Road during the Buffalo Planning Board's Sept. 8 meeting, Instead, the developer asked the city to postpone a scheduled public hearing that would have triggered the review process until the board's Sept. 21 meeting.
McGuire cited the Aug. 26 and Sept. 1 Black Lives Matter marches down Hertel Avenue that were interrupted by those opposed to the movement. A third march is planned for Friday evening. You can read the full story on Buffalo Business First website.
