BUFFALO, N.Y. — Developers Chris and Kim Shores plan to transform the former St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in South Buffalo into loft-style apartments.

The Shores purchased the 21,300-square-foot building at 2315 Seneca St. from St. Johns Lofts LLC for $195,000, according to documents filed April 4 with the Erie County Clerk's office.

The church has been vacant since it was closed by the Catholic Diocese of Buffalo in 2009.
