BUFFALO, N.Y. — It took an extra year and more than a few changes, but Deco Lounge is finally ready for its debut.

The restaurant opens Oct. 20 inside the Athletic Club Building at 69 Delaware Ave., and will launch with a craft cocktail menu and dinner service.

It’s the next incarnation for the art deco space, which previously housed Shayleen’s in the early 1990s and more recently, Ashker’s Fresh Market & Café. A $12 million redevelopment by owner Gold Wynn is also planned inside the building.

Initially expected to open in late summer 2022, the project was stalled by construction delays and labor woes. Deco was reimagined during the delay with its four partners changing up their plans from a full restaurant into more of a lounge concept, with a separate formal dining area that will double as a space for private events and parties.
