David’s Bridal could lay off up to 475 in New York state, according to WARN filing

This is the second time David's Bridal, a wedding gown and bridesmaid and formal dress retailer, has filed for bankruptcy in the last six years.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The same day as the company filed for bankruptcy protection, David’s Bridal notified New York state that it was laying off up to 475 of its local workers.

The staff cuts could affect 14 store locations, including shops at 1204 Niagara Falls Blvd., Tonawanda, and 3670 McKinley Parkway, Blasdell. That’s according to a worker adjustment and retraining notification, or WARN, filed April 17 with the state department of labor.

The company issued a WARN letter to employees as required by federal law but is "pursuing a dual-track process inside of bankruptcy to sell" the company, according to Laura McKeever, senior manager of brand PR, philanthropy and communications. The business aims to preserve as many jobs as possible with the prospective sale.
