Coronavirus impacting local hotels as foreign visitors cancel plans

Several area hotels and representatives from the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center are reporting cancellations due to some travel bans

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The impact of the coronavirus is being felt in the hospitality sector around Buffalo.

It is not that any cases have been reported locally. Rather, several area hotels and representatives from the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center, where the New York state bar exam is set for Feb. 25 and 26, are reporting cancellations from Chinese and others from additional Far East countries because of concerns related to virus including some travel bans.

John O’Connell, Hyatt Regency Hotel general manager, said his hotel has lost 20 percent of its bar exam related bookings in the past week, all because of visitors from China who were registered to take the test.   You can read more on this story on Buffalo Business First's website.
