ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Construction has begun on the expansion project of a medical device and medical disposables manufacturer in Orchard Park.

Empire State Development announced on Tuesday that Polymer Conversations has started construction on the $14.25 million expansion project. The expansion will accommodate the growth the company has recently seen because of the increased demand for U.S. sourced medical supplies as a result of the pandemic.

ESD is supporting the program with up to $550,000 through the Excelsior Tax Credit program in exchange for the creation of 45 jobs and the retention of 125 jobs.

"Polymer Conversions’ commitment to WNY is yet another example of high-tech companies choosing to grow and invest there. Investing in in-demand medical device manufacturing is an example of how WNY and New York State continue to build our economy back," Empire State Development Chief Operating Officer and Executive Deputy Commissioner Kevin Younis said.

Polymer Conversions is a full-service medical devices manufacturer that specializes in thermoplastic injection molding and customized "tight-tolerance" medical and biomedical devices. The recent increase in demand has allowed the company to expand to increase its workforce by 36%.

To make the expansion possible, a pair of additions totaling 34,200 square feet will be constructed. The expansions are expected to be complete by April 2022.
