Southern Tier hospital plans $8.4M renovation

The new renovation project requires a limited review by the State Department of Health.

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — A Jamestown hospital is prepping for an $8.4 million renovation.

UPMC Chautauqua has filed plans with the state for a construction project at its 208 Foote Ave. campus. The project in its central sterile processing department involves renovations to add equipment, expand the space and improvements for staff efficiency and work flow.

The project comes as UPMC preps for a surgical services expansion and consolidation at the 277-bed hospital. In February that project was selected by the DOH for nearly $30 million in funding through the Statewide Health Care Facility Transformation Program, designed to improve patient care.
