CLARENCE CENTER, N.Y. — A local developer says he wants his new retail plaza in a vacant business park in Clarence to become a hub for family-run businesses.

"We want to bring back the mom-and-pop places," said Joe Mattina of Mattina Development.

Mattina has proposed a 12,000-square-foot multi-tenant retail building at the corner of James Ryan Parkway and County Road in Clarence.

The project has been in the works for a while.

"We proposed this a few years back," Mattina said. "It took a little longer than we thought."
