BUFFALO, N.Y. — Golden Corral is plotting a return to the Buffalo market – and one of the region's recently shuttered Red Lobster sites could be a target.
The national franchise is focusing on expanding into select U.S. markets, with Buffalo named a major target for qualified investors.
Dave Conklin, chief development officer, said the company sees former restaurant sites as prime opportunities, though it also looks at building from the ground up and plaza/shopping center locations.
“Coming out of Covid, we’re seeing franchisees taking advantage of the existing real estate out there. It’s a quicker way to get started,” he said. “With Red Lobsters, for us it could be a buffet of opportunity for our franchisees and allow us to get into some of these markets. We would love to look at some of these to convert into Golden Corral.”
