BUFFALO, N.Y. — A new contract will give a downtown lunch spot a second location and an opportunity to significantly expand catering.

Pete’s Place Food Shop has signed a lease for 500 Seneca St., Buffalo. The space was most recently operated by The Lunch Box, which closed the site in May after opening an expanded bakery and restaurant at the Lafayette Court Building last fall.

Peter Flanagan launched Pete’s Place under Flanagan Foods II LLC with his wife, Samantha Nguyen, six years ago. Flanagan had been teaching at a grant-funded culinary arts education program with the YWCA of WNY, helping victims of domestic violence and marginalized populations learn the restaurant business. Nguyen previously was a senior banker with Bank of America.
