GETZVILLE, N.Y. — Leaders of a Getzville nursing home campus are worried about its future in the face of millions of dollars in unpaid debts and court judgments it says are tied directly to a failed acquisition effort.
Weinberg Campus has begun scaling back services and is selling property while looking to the state for assistance. Nursing home workers are slated to picket Oct. 9, citing unpaid benefits and a failure by the company to meet salary and wage increases promised in a new contract signed in late July.
And that’s just the tip of the iceberg for the long-term care provider on North Forest Road that is facing more than $5 million in claims and judgments.
