NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — The City of Niagara Falls and the Niagara Falls Urban Renewal Agency have their sights set on acquiring the Rapids Theatre and 22 other Main Street properties, negotiating with lenders to buy the troubled properties out of foreclosure.

The city wants to sell the properties on to multiple developers in the hopes that dividing them up would spur long-stalled development, according to Kevin Forma, director of planning for the city and executive director of the agency.

"We're really hoping to get them back into active use and hopefully see a spark," Forma said.
