NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — Though millions of tourists flock to Niagara Falls State Park every year, relatively few spend much time or money just steps away in the City of Niagara Falls.
A new $12 million construction and beautification project is trying to change that. New green space, an events pavilion and a scenic viewing platform on the park's outskirts are meant to bring visitors to the park into the city proper.
"How can we help draw some of those visitors out of the park, and get them into the city and patronizing the city?" asked Anthony Vilardo, president of the state-run USA Niagara Development Corp.
