DUNKIRK, N.Y. — ImmunityBio has filed a WARN notice with the New York state Department of Labor for two layoffs at its plant in Dunkirk.

According to the notice, the California-based biopharmaceutical manufacturer has 21 employees at the plant at 3085 lake Shore Drive East. The workers, who were not represented by a union, will be laid off Nov. 25.

It’s not the first time ImmunityBio (Nasdaq: IBRX) has had layoffs since moving into the state-owned facility in 2021, after another biopharmaceutical, Athenex, went bankrupt and sold its lease to ImmunityBio. At the end of 2022, the company laid off all 38 of its Dunkirk employees, pointing to more construction and renovation needed at the plant.
