GRAND ISLAND, N.Y. — Developer Newman Properties Inc. of Williamsville is planning to bring 90 apartments and 11 single-family homes to a 13-acre parcel in Grand Island.

The Grand Island Planning Board is scheduled to discuss the proposal for an unnumbered parcel near 1441 Ransom Road at its meeting Jan. 8.

The plan calls for eight two-story apartment buildings and 11 lots for owner-occupied homes, which would line Ransom Road and Stony Point Road. The project would require most of the property to be rezoned from business to a residential use.

"We think we've proposed a viable project that reflects the input we've received," said attorney Sean Hopkins, who represents Newman Properties. "We've been working on this project for a year now."
