BUFFALO, N.Y. — A new sports bar is in development for the Chippewa neighborhood at a former nightclub, while an existing site has new owners.
The new site is coming to 228 Franklin St. — most recently home to MES Lounge, then Jasmine Lounge — where partners Marlon Royster is working to open Greatest of All Time Bar (GOAT for short). Instead of a nightclub, plans call for a sports bar with lunch and dinner menus for downtown workers and hotel guests that won’t break the bank, said Bob Reich, a bar consultant working on the project.
“The main things we’re going for is affordable,” he said. “We want you to be able to get a beer and a burger for $20. ... We want to be an affordable, family-friendly place.”
