BUFFALO, N.Y. — D’Youville University has applied for $44 million in financing to help with the cost of launching a new medical school.
The university plans to establish a doctoral program in osteopathic medicine, which focuses on preventative and holistic health, according to D'Youville's recent application with the Industrial Land Development Corp., an arm of the Erie County Industrial Development Agency.
D’Youville requested the financing to help with startup costs, which it expects to total about $54 million. The $44 million will not be used for “construction, equipment or other capital” expenses, according to the application, which was completed by CFO Nicholas Fiume.
