BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Buffalo Niagara International Airport made some changes in 2023, and there are some new, exciting destinations to consider in 2024.
Where to go?
Nashville, Tennessee: Starting in June 2024, Southwest Airlines will offer nonstop flights from Buffalo to Nashville.
Punta Cana, Dominican Republic: Vacation Express has a limited package for a 7-night stay in Punta Cana. Interested travelers book the trip through Vacation Express and leave from the Buffalo airport Feb. 18 on Sunwing Airlines.
Cancun, Mexico: From Feb. 18-April 7, travelers can book a 7-night trip package through Vacation Express, which the company has been doing with the Buffalo airport since 2015, according to Pascal Cohen, senior marketing manager for the BNIA. The Mexican airline Viva Aerobus will depart from Buffalo on Sundays.
Lee Weitz, director of aviation for the BNIA, said nonstop flights to places with a warmer climate, such as Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Phoenix and Florida, are typically the most popular for Buffalonians in the early part of the year.
“People look for those nonstop flights,” he said. “We’re lucky to have so many nonstops to L.A. and Florida."
