BUFFALO, N.Y. — A Canadian company is planning a $6.5 million upgrade to a scrap metal yard in Buffalo.

AIM Recycling Erie is seeking City planning board permission for the project at 267 Marilla St. in South Buffalo.

The site is currently undergoing environmental remediation due to ground contamination, according to documents submitted to the planning board. Once that's done, AIM plans to build a 11,200-square-foot recycling building, new rail spurs connecting to the adjacent rail line, a de-pollution shed that allows recycled vehicles to be disassembled without contaminating the ground, 39 new parking spaces and a 20 foot noise barrier.
