SILVER CREEK, N.Y. — A development team plans to tear down a long-vacant high school in Chautauqua County to construct a new, $20.16-million apartment building on the site.

Silver Creek High School, located in the Village of Silver Creek and the Town of Hanover, has been closed more than 40 years. Several renovation projects for the building have been proposed over the years, but all fell through.

Silver Creek Apartments LLC is a partnership between Park Grove Development of Rochester and Southern Tier Environments for Living, a Dunkirk-based nonprofit focused on providing housing for people with special living.
