Higgins has big plans for Shea's

Higgins comes into the post after a career in politics, including 20 years leading the 26th Congressional district, which includes portions of Erie and Niagara count

BUFFALO, N.Y. — With a record 16,600 season-ticket subscribers this year, Shea’s Performing Arts Center is busier than it’s ever been — and incoming President/CEO Brian Higgins says he sees a lot more potential just over the border.

Higgins — who assumes the post Feb. 5, two days after his planned resignation from Congress — says there’s no reason why Shea’s can’t find the same success as other Western New York organizations.

While the Bills, the Sabres and even the Bisons count Canadians as 20-30% of their ticketholders, at Shea’s the market represents less than 1% of ticketholders. Buffalo Toronto Public Media’s success in regionalizing its product demonstrates the potential even more, he said.
