BUFFALO, N.Y. — M&T Bank has ended its long-running Plaza Event Series, citing dwindling attendance at the downtown summer concerts.
"After 54 years, it's kind of run its course," said Keith Belanger, senior executive vice president of corporate services for the bank. "What we've seen was attendance, even pre-Covid had been dwindling. Instead of measuring attendance in hundreds, were were measuring attendance in dozens."
The bank started the series at the then-new One M&T Plaza in 1969. Every summer, it hosted free lunchtime concerts multiple days a week.
