AMHERST, N.Y. — The Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority is years into its rail renewal project to retrack its rail-and-track bed along Main Street in the downtown district.
The project has made its way to the 400 block of Main Street, near the Main Place Mall, where crews are putting in a “crossover track” that will allow for trains to move to the other side of the railway if one track is out of service in the future.
“It allows us, when we do track work in the future, to have less disruption for anyone riding the train,” said Kim Minkel, executive director of the NFTA.
