BUFFALO, N.Y. — Another seven Buffalo employees received layoff notices May 23 as Highmark Inc. continues to shed employees across its footprint.
The jobs here were among 98 cut by the Pittsburgh-based health organization with nearly all coming from its enGen healthtech and IT subsidiary. Nearly half of the job losses were in the Pittsburgh and Erie regions of Pennsylvania.
The cuts marked the third time this year the Highmark Western and Northeastern New York team has seen job losses as Highmark continues to adjust its business lines in response to what it calls changes in the health care system and the impact of automation. Highmark has had five rounds of layoffs since early 2023.
