BUFFALO, N.Y. — Since news broke in March 2022 that Costco is finally coming to the Buffalo market, fans of the chain here have been eagerly awaiting project updates.
But so far -- besides the project that includes Costco Wholesale Corp. (NYSE: COST) getting Aug. 17, 2023 Amherst Planning Board site plan approval -- there has been little progress of note on the site, the former Tony Roma's restaurant on Ridge Lea Road in Amherst across from Carrabba's Italian Grill in the Boulevard shopping plaza.
A Costco representative has told Business First that company policy is not to comment on a future location until it's ready to share details, usually two to three months in advance.
The Amherst location is not yet listed on Costco’s website of new locations coming soon.
To get an idea of what's to come, Business First turned to other markets outside of New York state that recently got their first Costco locations to get a sense of what Buffalo could expect as the retailer gets closer to opening here.
