Plans for former Old Country Buffet in Clarence

The project will bring some new development to the plaza, which has lost Brennan's Bower Bar, This Little Pig and Bed Bath & Beyond in the last 18 months.

CLARENCE, N.Y. — With its first site scheduled to open Feb. 9, a Rochester restaurant owner is making plans for a second Western New York eatery.

Lisa Tung has leased a 10,300-square-foot space at 4401 Transit Road near Main Street in the Clarence Mall Plaza in space that previously housed Old Country Buffet, where she expects to open Umi Sushi & Seafood Buffet in about six months.

The project will bring some new development to the plaza, which has lost Brennan's Bower Bar, This Little Pig and Bed Bath & Beyond in the last 18 months.

It will also follow the opening Feb. 9 of K-BBQ & Hot Pot at 4224 Maple Road in Amherst, where Tung leased 5,000 square feet in the Maple Ridge Plaza where Tony Pepperoni previously operated. That concept, similar to the K-Pot BBQ franchise, will offer Korean barbecue buffet-style experience merged with table-top hot pots and grills.
