Which local college alumni earn the most annually?

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The median annual income of alumni from local colleges went up by an average of $2,000 in the last year, according to data from the U.S. Department of Education College Scorecard.

With tuition steadily on the rise, annual earnings for local alumni have never been more important when it comes to weighing the decision to go to college. In the last two decades, private national universities have increased tuition by about 132% (40% if adjusted for inflation), and in-state tuition for public national universities increased 158%, or 56% adjusted for inflation, according to U.S. News 2024 Best Colleges rankings data.

Even between the 2022-23 and 2023-24 academic years, tuition at private universities jumped 5%, and in-state tuition for public schools rose by 4%, according to data from U.S. News.
