BUFFALO, N.Y. — This week The Leaf on Bailey was the target of a small protest by residents in Buffalo's University district.
They are opposed to the store operating without license to sell cannabis.
The City of Buffalo's commissioner of permit and inspection services, Catherine Amdur, told 2 On Your Side "there is no license to operate that establishment. We're out there monitoring the situation. We just posted a cease all operations again, we've written extensive tickets."
The business remains open.
According to the commissioner, the store does not need a license to sell apparel, but tobacco, hookah, and vape would require a license, and she said "they have no license at all."
Amdur calls it a challenging time.
"We have this problem popping up, and our department permit of permit inspections, Buffalo Police, we've been working with other partners with the New York State Office of Cannabis Management and trying to get through this challenging time of this change in regulations," Amdur said.
City inspectors also served cease operation notices at two other city stores on East Delavan Avenue in Buffalo.
