AMHERST, N.Y. — A Target store in Amherst is closed indefinitely following the activation of fire alarm and sprinkler systems.
The incident happened Friday at 'The Boulevard' location, at 1575 Niagara Falls Blvd. Management called 911 to report the activated systems throughout the store, prompting a response by fire crews.
An investigation determined that there was no fire, and no fires had been previously reported. The Amherst Fire Inspector's Office helped shut down the fire alarm and sprinkler systems.
No one was injured, but the store will remain closed so that Target can address water damage and fix any lingering errors with the fire alarm and sprinkler systems.
The incident caused an estimated $25,000 in damages.
