Amherst prepping for Boulevard Mall changes

Applications have been filed with the state’s Downtown Revitalization Initiative for a $10 million grant, and requests have been made for a pair of DEC grants

AMHERST, N.Y. — It may be a little while longer before developer Douglas Jemal decides how Boulevard Mall will be reinvented.

But the Town of Amherst and the Amherst Industrial Development Agency are already working on how municipal services can be improved or upgraded to handle Jemal’s future plans for the property.

Applications have been filed with the state’s Downtown Revitalization Initiative for a $10 million grant, and requests have been made for a pair of Department of Environmental Conservation grants.
