GRAND ISLAND, N.Y. — Acquest Development Co. is looking to develop a large-scale warehouse and distribution center on Grand Island, eying the same parcel that the company pitched to Amazon for its regional warehouse.

Under review by the Town of Grand Island Planning Board is a proposal from the Williamsville-headquartered Acquest to develop a 1.08 million-square-foot warehouse/distribution center at 2780 Long Road. The project will cost $120 million, according to documents the developer filed with Grand Island.

Michael Huntress, Acquest vice president, said the complex is designed to help fill the region’s need for more warehouse and distribution space. The region has a 1.5% vacancy rate on its 68 million-square-foot portfolio of warehouse/distribution space, according to a CBRE/Buffalo market analysis.
