CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. — A joyous reunion took place at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport on Friday morning.
After three years apart, retired Marine Sergeant Joe Stasio of Orchard Park was reunited with his military working dog, Enzo, who also just retired.
As Stasio waited for his dog to arrive, he reflected on what it meant to him to adopt this animal.
"It's incredible because when you get out of the service, those memories, they kind of become faded," Stasio said. "All your friends disperse, they go back to their homes, and it's just a distant memory, and now I get to reconnect, and it's real again."
It was thanks in large part to the organization Mission K-9 Rescue, who helped Stasio and Enzo reunite.
But now Stasio just wants to take Enzo home and spoil him.
