Fosters wanted at Erie County SPCA

The SPCA Serving Erie County is looking for more people to help out as fosters for their rescue animals.

ERIE COUNTY, N.Y. — The Erie County SPCA is looking for more people to help out as fosters for their rescue animals.

Many foster care programs at shelters are designed to help create temporary homes for animals in need to get the care that they deserve.

Some reasons that pets are typically placed in a foster home are due to

  • Lack of space
  • Too young
  • Nursing litter
  • Emergency boarding situations

“It doesn’t cost a thing to become a foster parent,” said Foster Care Lead Sarah McEvoy. “The SPCA covers veterinary care and all food, supply, and equipment costs associated with its foster care animals. The best part about fostering is that when the animal is ready to go up for adoption, the foster parent or a family member or friend has the first opportunity to adopt before the animal hits the adoption floor!”
