CORNING, New York — First and foremost, Frank Barber is a great guy. He's mild-mannered and trustworthy. He is a popular educator in Corning.
But when Frank is at a Bills game, he's a scary sight.
A middle school principal by day, Frank transforms into his Bills Mafia alter ego "Hannabill Lecter" when attending a Buffalo Bills game.
Standing at 6 feet, 6 inches tall with a masked face, resembling the villainous "Silence of the Lambs character," can be a bit intimidating.
Frank first started painting his face during the Bills "tough stretch" about 20 years ago. His character is often seen when TV crews pan their cameras to show Bills fans in all their zaniness at home games.
His two worlds rarely collide, but as a reward for his students, he did reveal his "Hannabill Lecter" character after they achieved their goal during a school food drive.
It takes him about 15 minutes to paint his head and put on his mask and costume before heading to a home game. He chose the mask, fitting only over the lower half of his face because he didn't want his vision impaired while he was rooting on his Buffalo Bills.
