Looking back at Highmark Stadium's history

Bills fans can share their memories of what will soon be the former stadium in a new interactive experience called the 'Highmark Stadium Talegate'.

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — As the new Bills Stadium continues to get closer to completion, many fans may be reflecting on all of the memories that have been created throughout the years at the current stadium located at One Bills Drive.

Originally named Rich Stadium when it broke ground in 1972, the home of the Bills has since then gone through many changes. Some even may fondly remember it as 'The Ralph'.

All of that history, comes with many fond memories for the Bills fan base.

To honor and celebrate those memories before the big move, Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield has created a way for fans to preserve those memories.

Fans attending games on Monday, September 23 and Sunday, December 1 will have the chance to hop into the TaleGate Trailer located outside of the Bills store at gate 5.

The TaleGate Trailer which has been modeled to look like a recording studio, offers fans the opportunity to share their memories at what will become the old Bills stadium.

Once inside those participating will be greeted by a virtual Thurman Thomas, who will give a step-by-step tutorial on how to record your memory.

"We've gotten stories of people bringing their elderly parents from nursing homes to watch the Bills game. We've gotten stories from people who were recovering from really life changing medical conditions that really help them recover, mentally and physically. We've gotten stories of people meeting their favorite player and doing a touchdown dance with them," says Christian LoGrasso, Highmark's Director of Brand Strategy and Partnerships.

Monday's game will welcome fans to the trailer anytime from 3:30 p.m. until kickoff at 7:30 p.m.

Along with the trailer there will also be exclusive giveaways, special guests, and more.

Those who may not be able to make it in person, but still want to share a memory can do so online by clicking here
