Bills Mafia reflects on Highmark Stadium and the first pre-season game

Fans say the energy was electric in Highmark Stadium as they flooded through the gates to get a look at what's to come this season.

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Football is back and Bills fans couldn't be happier to welcome a new season to Highmark Stadium.

"It's pre-season, it's beautiful weather, we have great food and great friends," said Sandy Azzi.

The Bills Mafia came out in full force today, spending time tailgating before the first pre-season game, grilling some tailgate favorites, and repping their favorite players - whether it's Josh Allen or new guys on the roster like Keon Coleman.

Many started the fun bright and early...

"Usually we get here at 9, and soon as they open, we're pulling in right behind them," said Felix Stewart.

High energy... even if the Bills couldn't deliver a pre-season win just yet.

"Obviously the score wasn't what we hoped for but I think that these guys are just working out the kinks and I hope to see them in the Superbowl," said Cory Flament.

As a new season gets underway, fans can't help but be reminded of the team's future. The skeleton of the new Bills stadium sits just across the street, a sight that brings joy to many fans who are excited about a new home for the Bills Mafia.

Others are a bit sentimental about letting go of the stadium the team has called home for more than 50 years.

"It's gonna be a big thing for us older generation to see that stadium taken down. It's rough," said Jim Kelly.

Regardless of the future, one thing is certain: there's a lot more football and fun in store for fans this season.
