BUFFALO, N.Y. — As the holidays approach, more and more people are searching for recipes and things to do during the holidays. With Thanksgiving less than a week away, food is a big search topic.
According to Google Trends, 'turkey trot' search interest has been greater that the search for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade since 2015.
In Buffalo, 14,000 runners are expected to participate in the 129th annual YMCA Turkey Trot.
Mike Baggerman, the communications director at the YMCA Buffalo Niagara, told the Associated Press that folks are lookin for something fun to do. While some runners show up for the 8K race with a competitive spirit and achieve record-setting times, the overwhelming majority are “people like you and me who just want to have something fun to do on Thanksgiving Day.”

Google created a map showing what side dish people are searching for most in their state.
In New York, green bean casserole is a top side dish search. In California, it is stuffing and in Texas it is Corn Casserole. Floridians are searching for sweet potato casserole, while North Carolina is searching for deviled eggs.
Side dishes aren't the only popular search for Thanksgiving foods. Pies and cake top the list of baked goods when it comes to what people are looking for.
