BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Response To Love Center welcomed guests for a special Thanksgiving morning feast on Kosciuszko Street in the Broadway-Fillmore district.
Sister Mary Johnice told 2 On Your Side that her group of volunteers roasted 27 turkeys in order to have enough for everyone on Thursday. She also talked about what else makes this meal special.
"There's this thing called 'need and greed,' and the need of the people is great over here, and to see a smile, to get a hug — somebody came in and crocheted little hats and said, 'Give them to the poor,' so it's a whole family day," Sister Johnice said.
Beyond Thanksgiving, the Response To Love Center operates a daily soup kitchen and other programs, including its clothing pantry, throughout the year.
