BUFFALO, N.Y. — The City of Buffalo is trying to make it as easy as possible for people heading to the New Year's Eve ball drop.
Parking is free at the Mohawk and Fernbach ramps, and there will be a ride-sharing zone on pearl street between Huron and Chippewa for those getting a ride.
The party starts at 10 p.m. in Roosevelt Plaza, with The Strictly Hip and saxophonist Will Holton.
"Throughout New Year's Eve, we will have police officers, firefighters, parking, and DPW crews stationed at Roosevelt Plaza to ensure that it will remain safe and festive," Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown said.
The Electric Tower ball drop and fireworks display is the second-largest celebration in the state, and is a big fundraiser for the Police Athletic League of Buffalo.
"I also want to thank the Buffalo Board of Parking and the Buffalo Civic Auto Ramps and the Buffalo Common Council for making free parking available on New Years, and on the nearby Mohawk ramp and Fernbach ramp," Brown said.
"No matter how you celebrate the start of the new year, I hope you can be surrounded by family and friends."
