OLEAN, N.Y. — It stretches from South Union and State Street all the way to Olean Creek.
A 22-foot stretch of road that might be too sweet to eat. Three hundred pounds of gingerbread. Another 200 for sweets.
If you haven’t already guessed, these are not your typical streets.
A replica of Olean cast in sugar, not stone. This work was made possible thanks to hands like Eric Jones. He was the architect but could not do it alone.
Thanks to Angelica Porcuri and Jody Stephans, they met their milestone. Baking and construction happened for two months straight.
Shops built of gingerbread and a quarter mile of chocolate streetscape. Two months to build but over a year to plan.
Dozens of local businesses also lent a financial hand. Their names now adorn the block made of sweets.
The Pink Pumpkin Project will benefit from donations, as long as people don’t try to eat.
A feast for the eyes in the heart of Olean.
