Golden eggs are up for grabs at the Buffalo Zoo's Easter Eggsperience

The weekend event includes a candy trail, photo-ops with the Easter bunny, and a golden Easter egg hunt.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Easter is next weekend, and families were celebrating early at the Buffalo Zoo.

Saturday marked day one of the zoo's Easter Eggsperience with a candy trail, photo-ops with the Easter bunny, and a golden Easter egg hunt. There were complimentary train rides for people who wanted a ride however times they wanted, and animal ambassadors met with curious guests for a couple hours.

"It's still a cool experience to come see the animals in the snow," Christian Dobosiewicz, the zoo communications manager, told 2 On Your Side during Saturday's event. "Luna is having a great time in the snow. The lion cubs were rolling around too. It's still a great time to come to the zoo.

"If people want to come, they can purchase tickets at the front gate or online, and tickets are available [Sunday] for the event as well."

A second day of the Easter Eggsperience will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.

Some golden eggs are still up for grabs. The first 20 guests to find the golden eggs each day will get the prize of their choice, and those prizes range in value between $20 and $30.
