WNY family adopts a 2nd child, reunites siblings

3-year-old Chance Amari Moore was officially adopted Friday by Cindy and Jeffrey Moore at Erie County family court.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — A 3-year old named Chance officially found his forever home on Friday with Cindy and Jeffrey Moore after spending more than 1,300 days in the foster care system.

Chance was reunited with his big sister, Cece, who was adopted one year ago by the Moores after she spent almost 2,000 days in foster care. The parents were joined by family and friends Friday at Erie County family court for Chance's special day — and his reunion with his sister.

When describing the pair, Cindy said they have an unbreakable bond, calling them a boy and girl version of each other.

"They have the same mannerisms, the same personalities and spunkiness, It's just so neat to see the two of them really interacting. I think, truly, that biological bond is just immeasurable," Cindy said.

Chance's parents have fostered several children in the past, telling 2 On Your Side that it's challenging not to fall in love with each child they take in.

"That's our goal as a foster family, is to give them the love and support that they need," Cindy said.

The family celebrated their new addition with a Buffalo Bills-themed sign that read "Officially part of the team — 1,308 days in training" for Chance — who is a "major sports fanatic," according to his mom.

Cindy is a strong advocate for fostering children who are seeking that placement and a home, expressing that it's a real need in our community.

"I don't know anybody that's done foster care that's regretted it," Cindy said. "I think everybody that has had children in their care had truly enjoyed the time they had the children with them."

When asked what the first activity the family will do together after their new addition, Chance was quick to say a Buffalo Bills game was in the cards.
