CASTILE, N.Y.- It's so cold in Western New York that the fountain at Letchworth State Park is frozen.

The fountain actually freezes every year, but rarely does it get as high as it is now. One park employee told 2 On Your Side the weather plays a key role in determining its shape.

"It's very much weather dependent, depending how long the cold spells are, the direction of the wind, and the freeze and thaw cycles," Douglas Kelly, who has worked at Letchworth for more than 20 years said.

Right now the fountain is 50 feet tall. The record is 64 feet, but Kelly says the record could be broken if the weather keeps up like this.
