Liquor stores get new operating hours on Sundays in NYS

Changing old ways, the NYS Governor address outdated liquor laws for stores hours of operation.
New York leaders on Tuesday announced they have agreed to allow restaurants to sell alcohol at 10 a.m. on Sundays, instead of the current noon opening, to accommodate brunches.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Many liquor store owners may rejoice as a new change has been made to their businesses in New York State. 

The NYS Liquor Authority announced on Monday the state will be expanding the hours that liquor and wine stores may open on Sundays, thanks to new legislation.

Prior to this change, liquor stores were only able to operate from noon - 9:00 pm on Sundays. Now, the new hours set will be 10:00 am - 10:00 pm. 

The change comes just days after the Governor allowed liquor stores to open earlier for the Buffalo Bills game in London which was at 9 am on a Sunday. 

"Across New York, breweries, distilleries, and other alcoholic beverage businesses are creating jobs and expanding economic opportunity,” Governor Hochul said. “I'm proud to sign this legislation that will modernize the laws governing the sales of alcoholic beverages in New York.”

The new legislation addresses the Governor's efforts to address outdated laws in New York regarding alcohol and its sales throughout the state.
