HAMBURG, N.Y. — A popular Hamburg restaurant will soon be closing.
Juicy Burger Bar announced on their social media page that they will be closing effective December 16. The restaurant said the building that they lease from recently sold and their lease was terminated.
However, an attorney representing the owner of the property said the lease for the space Juicy Burger Bar occupied ended March 31, 2023. The attorney, Thomas D. Lyons, said in a statement, "...Bearing that in mind, the decision to end Juicy’s continued occupancy effective December 31, 2023, was made only after Juicy (a) rejected new-lease offers from my client; and (b) failed to pay the full amount due for its use and occupancy of the space (including failing to make any payment for multiple months since April 1, 2023)."
The restaurant opened nearly nine years ago on Buffalo Street.
They said on their post, they are supporting their employees who will be without a job during the holidays.
"Our employees have been at the heart of our business since JuiCy Burger Bar’s inception 8.5 years ago and we cannot fully express our gratitude for all of their support and commitment throughout the years. We have grown together as a family, supporting each other through tough times (including a pandemic and wild snow storms), and celebrating life’s accomplishments and celebrations together," they said in the their post. "We recognize the timing of this announcement comes during the holiday season and we are doing all we can to support our employees who have become family. This is not something we wanted or anticipated and are doing all we can to support our employees, our family, after delivering this devastating news. Please keep your eyes out for social media updates as we look for ways to support them."
The owners say this won't be the last time we hear from them. They are hoping to take Juicy Burger Bar to the next level and plan on coming back stronger than ever
