BUFFALO, N.Y. — Bill Drexler is from the 716. He takes pride in where he's from.
"Anyone who knows me on set at work knows, I will not stop talking about the City of Buffalo," said Drexler.
You might know him as Camera Guy Bill with the Hot Ones.' He said he's been telling people at work they should come to Buffalo.
"We gotta go to Buffalo. We got to go to Buffalo. You know the chicken wing is from Buffalo, right? We got to go to Buffalo. It took eight years, but they finally caved. I am very very lucky."
He now has a new episode out on the First We Fest YouTube Channel.
"This is my first time hosting anything. I think the first 8 years I spent in a room with Sean Evans watching him interview celebs. That was a really good crash course on how to interview people." He added, I still can't believe it I was supposed to be behind the camera and now I'm in front of the camera and it's very surreal."
The episode is called The Ultimate Buffalo Wing Tour: 24 Hours in Buffalo with Camera Guy Bill."
He said, "To be able to be given this chance by First We Feast to showcase my love for my hometown and the love of the chicken wing - it's a real honor. I'm really excited for the world to see it."
On his tour, he makes a couple of stops including at Doc Sullivan's, Wing Nuts, Bar-Bill, and Duffs. He said it was hard to pick just four. "There are so many to choose from and it's really hard to not find a good chicken wing in Buffalo. They'll see my favorites a little bit of history of the chicken wing what makes a buffalo chicken wing, what doesn't make a buffalo chicken wing, and watching me eating some tasty food with some cool people."
You might say it is a full circle moment for Drexler - being raised in the 716 and now hosting an episode all about Buffalo.
He said, "You can't have Hot Ones without the chicken wing. The whole thing is very serendipitous I ended up working for Hot Ones and the Chicken Wing and now I get to go home to where the Chicken Wing was born. It feels really good."
