ANGOLA, N.Y. — An injured bald eagle was recently rescued in Erie County.
The rescue started with a phone call made to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation about a bald eagle spotted along the Thruway, near Angola, on June 19.
A DEC officer safely captured the eagle, with New York State Police troopers assisting with traffic flow, the DEC said in a recent newsletter. The eagle was too large for a cage, so the officer wrapped the bird in his jacket.
With the bird secured, the eagle was taken to a licensed rehabilitator and is now in a veterinarian's care.
